In this assignment, my partner and I had to create a 1 minute film that conveyed a word. Our word was "bored". In this project, we could not use any dialogue, which was a challenge considering we had to base the video around a word. However, we could use sound effects and instrumental music. My approach to properly completing this was to set up the proper scenes that would demonstrate boredom. Juliana and myself were instantly thinking that we could make a storyline of a student bored at lunch.
Our story board consisted of 17 scenes. These scenes were all shot at lunch. The story board helped my group organize our scenes a lot because when you have what you're planning to do all right in front of you, it makes the process of filming and editing speed up tremendously. Creating new ideas from your head can easily get very messy and disordered, but having your ideas jotted down on paper, along with drawings signifying what type of shot that is needed, makes filming a lot more simple.
Also, we had to incorporate different camera shots and angles that we had previously learned about. I love when prior information is constantly being reminded regardless how long ago you've learned it.
During this project, I learned how to edit. I have never edited anything at all before, and honestly, I was dreading it. With the use of Adobe Premiere Pro, editing was not very difficult. Yes, I did have some trouble in the start, but I got a good feel for how to edit further.
Overall, I am very proud of the one word film that I made, but, I do wish that the sound that I did utilize was executed better. However, for my first time editing, I am very proud of myself.
